They roped us right in.
Way to go, Lowes. Your cute little Sesame Street gardening display, conveniently located RIGHT beside the registers where you have to go to check out when you are buying paint, worked its magic. We bought a packet of your wisely packaged sunflower seeds.
Inspired by our friends’ amazing garden, we decided to try planting a few other small things among our little flower beds this year . . . tomatoes, cilantro, green onion, and oregano, plus a couple of sunflowers.
First we put some soil in little cups.
Then we pushed the seeds down into the dirt (or just played with them on top of the soil).
Before long we put them in our sunniest window and gave them a drink.
Then I looked at the back of the bag of soil.
Oops! Guess I shouldn’t have used this with the kids after all.
Just a few days later, we were rewarded with lots of little sprouts. Kait is disappointed that the onions are actually growing. They aren’t exactly one of her favorite foods.
Those sunflowers are really shooting up.
Must be because Big Bird is on the package?
Anyone want some sunflowers that are just sprouting? We are only going to actually plant a couple of them. You, too, could have a little bit of Sesame Street growing in your yard.
Grandpa has his tomato plants planted !!!!!! But no sunflowers 🙂
